Why we do this
A patient who has just been told they need surgery is usually frightened, often confused by the paperwork, and rarely in a position to argue with a specialist. Asking for a second opinion feels like an accusation, so most people don’t ask — they just worry.
We think a person in that position should be able to get a straight reading of their own reports without paying for the privilege first, and without being sold anything in return. So our doctors read these cases after OPD hours, write a plain-language opinion, and then leave the patient alone.
Some of those patients later come to us for treatment, on their own initiative. That is a good enough reason for a hospital to do this, and we would rather say so openly than pretend to pure charity.

Dr. Full Name — NMC Reg. No. 00000 — is responsible for the quality of every opinion given through this service. Every opinion is signed by the doctor who wrote it, with their registration number.
